About Sealco
Where We Started
Sealco's roots trace back to a family-owned NAPA auto parts store in the 1960s, where Jeff Modde grew up learning the fundamentals of coatings while working alongside his father. Drawing on that foundation, Jeff went on to build automotive paint and sandblasting businesses of his own, developing deep expertise in surface preparation, coatings, and material performance.
In 1981 he founded Excel, which quickly grew into the region's leading contractor for industrial sealants, coatings, fuel depot tank liner systems, and containment tank linings. Excel earned a reputation across Nebraska and the Midwest for precision, durability, and performance in the most demanding industrial environments.
In 1993, building on that legacy, the company rebranded as Sealco — expanding its expertise to include commercial roof sealants, leak repair, concrete repair, and industrial floor coating systems. That same three-generation commitment to quality now serves manufacturing plants, food processing facilities, warehouses, and schools across Eastern Nebraska.

Sealco continues to operate as a family-owned business under the leadership of Eric and Luke — the next generation carrying forward the same problem-solving mindset, coating expertise, and commitment to quality that has defined this company since 1981.
Based in Columbus with operations serving all of Eastern Nebraska, Sealco today works with some of the region's largest manufacturing plants, food processing facilities, school districts, and commercial building owners. The same values that built Excel into a regional leader now drive Sealco forward — honest inspections, technical precision, and work that lasts.
